The Centro de Estudios de Asia y África (CEAA) at El Colegio de México, Mexico City, is proud to host the 2025 Western Conference of the Association of Asian Studies annual conference. This year’s theme is “Resilience, Cooperation, Progress.” In the face of rising isolationism and populism globally, how do citizens, scholars and activists maintain ties? How does civil society adapt? What kinds of connections can be made to overcome isolationism?

We invite submissions for panel and paper proposals with a wide variety of themes, but hope to encourage conversation with this year’s theme in mind, including conversations between Latin America, North America, and Asia.

Submission Guidelines:

Panel Proposals:

• Panel description: Include a detailed description of the panel (200-250 words).
• Paper abstracts: Each paper within the panel should have an accompanying abstract (150-200 words).
• Panel participants: List the names and affiliations of all presenters.

Individual Paper Proposals:

• Abstract: Provide a summary of your paper (150-200 words).
• Keywords: Include three key terms relevant to your presentation to assist in panel creation.
• Name and affiliation.

Poster Session Proposals:

• Abstract: Provide a summary of your poster (150-200 words). During a poster session, presenters are expected to introduce a topic of research and develop it briefly through the use of a canvas that can mix texts, pictures, data tables, and graphics.

• Keywords: Include three key terms relevant to your panel to assist in panel creation.
• Name and affiliation.
